Presenting…Friday…

I couldn’t resist sharing with you this adorable photo of Friday, a young 1/2 quarter-horse, 1/2 paint colt. There are several good things about being back in Texas for a little while, and one of them is spending a little time with good friends and enjoying the things that are important to them.

Brandons_baby horse

Friday belongs to my dear friend and pastor, Brandon, and was photographed by his son, Josh. I think Josh captured a lovely moment in a youngster’s life.

Validation…

Inta of Binkaminka’s Bead Therapy blogged about this Hugh Newman video starring TJ Thyne.  It was truly fascinating and touching.  It’s a “feel-good” video, and we need more of those!  If you need a smile (and we ALL do)  PLEASE click here:

One week to Mothers Day…

What a lovely surprise I just found! I almost missed this sweet Treasury West with my Surf and Pearls Necklace included.

One Week to Mothers Day

It was curated by Noah's Ark Collection which happens to be one of my favorite shops! You will always find lots of cute stuff there, and today I couldn’t find just one, so here are two of my favorite items!

This seagull is so cool, maybe I like it because most of the time we live in Key Largo Florida with LOTS of seagulls, which I never tire of!

And, of course, I collect chickens! So these earrings are right up my alley!

There’s no place like home…

I feel like Dorothy, but no ruby slippers. Key Largo may be paradise for some, but I am happy to report “Honey, I’m Home!!”. After a three day trek with my Best Friend, Tessa, Jack the angel-dog, Tessa’s new puppy-Jemima, four finches, and a ton of beads, I am happily home at last, at least for a little while! Texas and our 4.5 green acres truly are my favorite place. My roses and irises are blooming, never-mind the waist high weeds! The damp soil feels good in my hands, even with the sticker in my thumb. :o)

Worldwide Autism Awareness Day

Today is Worldwide Autism Awareness Day. The month of April is Autism Awareness Month as well.

Autism Awareness magnet

According to www.autism.com/:  Autism is a severe developmental disorder that begins at birth or within the first two-and-a-half years of life. Most autistic children are perfectly normal in appearance, but spend their time engaged in puzzling and disturbing behaviors which are markedly different from those of typical children. Less severe cases may be diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) or with Asperger's Syndrome (these children typically have normal speech, but they have many "autistic" social and behavioral problems).

A couple of blog-posts for you to check out concerning life with autism:

A New Endeavor…

Back on March 18, I opened HidingPlace Beadery at 1000 Markets, a fairly new selling venue for handmade quality items. Not long after that I was contacted by Dini of Beadazzled of Oregon, and she inquired about my interest in starting a new beadweaver’s group on 1000 Markets. Dini’s enthusiasm is infectious! So within just a few days she and Rachele of Rachele’s Originals had organized a group of 8 people who have spent the last week, writing up our proposal, choosing our name and tag line, establishing our vision of the market we wanted to establish and deciding on a final banner graphic. I present the result:

Today, the proposal will be submitted for consideration by the 1000 Markets jury!! So, we’re hoping for the best, and in the meantime, I am thanking the Lord for getting acquainted with some TERRIFIC ladies! Stay tuned for the outcome for “THE BEADWEAVING EMPORIUM”!

A huge thanks to Dini and Rachele! God bless you!

Check out this treasury of beautiful jewelry done by a few members of the Etsy BeadWeavers Team.

New items in shop...

I've added three new items to my Etsy shop! Hope they're well received. I'm looking forward to my first sale!! The first, Sweet Amethyst. The photos really don't do it justice, so my photography skills are going to HAVE to improve!

Second, Shimmering Sapphire photos were better in my estimation. The earrings are sophisticated, yet feminine.

Last, but not least, Summer Strawberries look good enough to eat! Yum! These are Cherry Brand vintage strawberry beads from the late 40s, early 50s. I absolutely love vintage beads!

Birdie fever...

No, not bird flu!! Recently, I added 7 new chickadee bird beads to my stash. SOOOO adorable! They are hand made by lampwork artist Mary Lockwood who very kindly made up a selection for me to choose from. As some people know, I have a hard time making decisions---so, I took the whole flock!!
Her shop is here: http://www.marylockwood.etsy.com/ , and she also has a website: http://www.marylockwood.com/ . If you are interested in lampworking she has tutorials that are highly recommended. Not a large selection of lampwork to choose from, but she is convo friendly, and super nice! She also does beautiful turtles, other types of birds, and she just sold the cutest little white froggie I had my eye on! :o( Oh well, I love the birdies! Seven birds in the hand are definitely worth more than a frog!
